How It's Made

From Log to Living Bird

Every sculpture passes through six unhurried stages — no shortcuts, no machine carving. Only hands, knives, and patience.

Wood Selection

We exclusively use FSC-certified linden wood — fine-grained, knot-free, and ideal for capturing the finest feather detail.

Pattern Drawing

Each species is sketched from reference specimens and ornithological illustrations to ensure anatomical accuracy.

Rough Carving

A band saw shapes the blank, then hand gouges and knives bring out the body form — head, wings, tail, and feet.

Detail Carving

Individual feather groups are textured using burning tools and micro-chisels. This stage alone takes 6–12 hours.

🎨

Hand Painting

Archival acrylic paints are layered in thin washes, feather by feather, to replicate the bird's true plumage colours.

Sealing & Finishing

A final matte lacquer protects the paint and gives the sculpture a natural, lifelike sheen — never plasticky or glossy.
